My fiance and I live in a geodesic dome and are almost free of all bills. We live off the grid, heat our home for free, cool our home for free, grow our own produce, recycle and live mostly green. We installed a radiant floor to heat our home via our Oregon Central Boiler, we clean up our land by using the old dead wood. We cool our home with the radiant flooring by running cold water in the floor during the warm weather months. We have a back-up water heating solar system to use in the summer. We grow most of our own produce. Our dream is to run our cars on hho or electric. We are always trying to find ways to live free and live green!!!
Awesome dome. Living in Los Angeles I am always in a dichotomatic state as this city is so fast and all about glam, spending money and living large. I live in the hills near Malibu and grow some of my own food, live without air conditioning in 115F heat, have a studio with a green roof and drive biodiesel when I am not working. I too would one day love to be off the grid and it is people like you that make it look so easy and inspiring.
Rebecca!!! you are living my dream life sister!! how beautifully inspiring you and your husband are! i am so happy to have you as a friend, please feel free to share any stories of your off the grid existence! i have been researching alternative housing and living methods for seven years now, and am currently putting my mental threads out there to the universe to help decide where to move to when the time is right... if i am ever in your area, i would love nothing more than to visit you. :)
